The Gateshead FC steam train kept rolling on (CHOO CHOO) against Frickley Athletic at International Stadium on Wednesday night.

In front of a crowd of 360 Gateshead showed why they are unbeaten in 16, Yes 16 games!!!
Crisp free flowing football was the order of the day, with Jamie Harwood giving a master class to Frickley down the right.

Not only did Harwood give a master class, He score a well deserved hat-trick and lapped up the Heed Army's affection.

Greame Armstrong again showed why he was trailed by many of the North East club in the summer by finding the net again. He's settled into UniBond football like an old pair of underpants!!!

Super Steve Salvin was in the lime light yet again with his 5th goal of the season, that's 5 goals in 4 game.

Craig Baxter saw red late in the second half after an altercation with a Frickley player, both seen red. Lets hope his absence while suspended doesn't come back to haunt the Heed.

Steve "The Saint" Salvin

Steve Salvin joined Gateshead in the Summer of 2006, signed by then Heed manager Tony Lee.

Many Gateshead fans can be forgiven for thinking "who the hell is STEVE SALVIN" when he was signed from Newcastle Blue Star.
A squad player or bench player many fans thought he would become, yet first impressions of ordinary sharp turned in to admiration for the battling midfielder.

Box to Box, Always thinking, Battling and Goal getting midfielder have all been used to describe Steve. Yet there could be ten more terms to used when talking about last years Club Captain.
Seven goals last season and four goals in 3 games this season shows he hasn't lost the touch over the Summer break. The feat of scoring 4 goals this season is even more impressive as he has played two games as a make shift defender in the absence of Steve Baker, though a knee injury.

Could Salvin score 5 in four games? we wait in excitement to see against Frickley on Wednesday night!!!!

The Heed's next apponents are Frickley Athletic who only have two points from their opening five games. Although frickley havent started with the gusto of Gateshead they will sure be tough oppersistion.

Hopefully Gateshead will have playmaker Steve Bowey (pictured) back in the starting line up, after he missed Saturdays 4-0 win over Worksop Town with an injury.

Gateshead Continued their great form under Ian Bogie's management stretching there unbeaten run to 15 games without defeat.

The crushing 4-0 win away to Worksop Town was know more than Gateshead deserved, the team that was missing left hand pair Phil Cave and Wayne Phillips strolled through the Worksop defence.

Two goals by Captain Steve Salvin, and pen from Davie Southern and a great finish from Greame Armstrong wrapped up the 3 points for the heed.

Peter Keen was never tested and the centre back partnership of Flynn and Curtis never broke a sweat!!

Gateshead travel to Worksop this Saturday, and are set to be without three key players.

Jamie Harwood and left sided pair Wayne Phillips and Phil Cave (pictured), all miss the trip to Nottinghamshire.















With Gateshead Gunning for their 3rd win of the season, missing three first team players will not help the Heed Army's cause.
We know we have players who are more than capable of stepping in and doing a great job for the Heed.

The Heed Army Blog predicts a starting line up of:
Ian Robson could be in line get his first start for the Heed at Worksop and Richard Flynn may be recalled to fill in at the centre of defence to rekindle his partner ship with James Curtis.

Many Gateshead fans will never have witnessed such a run of game without defeat. 14 games unbeaten is a fantastic achievement, clubs like Manchester United or Chelsea would be proud of that runs of games.

What its down to i hear you ask, well one name that springs to mind and that would be Ian Bogie(pictured). His understanding of the game has earned him the respect of the Heed dressing room, which has been transported on to the pitch.
A clean passing game has been but in place and the flare of DavieSouthern and Steve Bowey is already starting to show in the early part of the new season.

Gateshead 2 Whitby Town 1

Gateshead FC are now 14 games unbeaten, as the Ian Bogie football machine rolls on.

Whitby Town came with a game plan of closing Gateshead down and and slowing the game down.

Its worked in the middle part of the match but Gateshead had many chances in front of goal, Graeme Armstrong hand 5 chances alone in the first half.

But Gateshead Did take the lead Before the break through Jamie Harwood from a great Davie Southern cross.

After the break Steve Salvin slipped with the ball on the edge of the box and Whitby got level with shot from just inside the area.

Yet as on Saturday Steve Salvin leaped like a salmon to bury such a sweet header past the Whitby keeper.

Eastwood Town 1 Gateshead 3

Pre match jitters were not helped when the referee awarded a penalty in the opening minutes of the game to Eastwood, the penalty was scored and Gateshead started the fight back with the Heed Army in full voice.

Gateshead's first goal was scored by Graeme Armstrong, a fantastic finish from inside the area.
Super Steve Salvin scored the second to send the travelling Heed Army wild behind the goal.




Wayne Phillips sealed a great opening day win with well placed shot in a goal mouth scramble.

Gateshead were never in trouble in this match, with the side never moving in to second gear.
Peter Keen only had the penalty to deal with, after being judged to have brought down the Eastwood striker.

Make shift defender Steve Salvin was solid throughout and looked more than adequate to fill the role as and when needed.

With the new season upon us, the Heed Army still have something to dread. Empty Seats on a match Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We seen at the back end of last season attendances rise with good form on the pitch, This was great to see and also hear the noise level rise to near enough former levels.

This is a plea to All of the Heed Army, Lets get the word out there for the first home game against Whitby Town.
A good start on the pitch and in the stands will be fantastic for the Gateshead, and we can play our part in that. By getting behind our lad and give it ten of the best!!!!!!!!!

The Unibond Is Upon Us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With the new season nearly upon us, what can we expect this campaign????

With most of last years squad still in team we know that the club is trying to build from last season unbeaten run of 12 games in the last 12 games.


New and old face's are back in the fold at Gateshead with Steve Bowey (Pictured Below) returning to the club from last years conf play off losers York City. His Return has seen him Become Gateshead Captain this year, with his experience and knowledge this can only be a good move.
His Pre-season Preformance's have brought back memory of his first stint at the club, where his flare and all round play always rises to the top.


In addition to Bowey's arrival Gateshead splashed the cash on Graeme Armstrong from Dunston Fed, £5000 is believed to have been the sum of money that was needed to bring Armstrong into the Heed fold.
Armstrong has showed his ability to find the back of the net in the pres-season, Time will tell if he does so in the Unibond Prem.

Marc Bell also arrived to become number one choice goal keeper, Marc made a hand full of fantastic appearance's for Gateshead last year. Those games he played has led to him being signed permanently for this season.

The Heed Army Blog Player to watch out for the year is going to be Jamie Harwood (pictured Right).

Jamie Joined Gateshead From Worksop Town last season and has fitted in well. He has made the right wing his own and dominates against any left.



With the old and the addition of the new players, Gateshead will be wanting to be in the top half of Unibond Premier Division and challenging for the play-off or even the championship.

What a game!!! where do you start????

I'll start by saying I never thought we would match a Newcastle XI never mind play them off the park for much of the first half.

Mighty Jamie Harwood (pictured below) stole the show down the right hand side ripping the Newcastle left back to bits time after time.
















Gateshead Goals came from Davie Southern, and Graeme Armstrong. While two of Newcastle united's Goals Came from Shola Amiobe.

A special Thanks to Tyneside football fan neighbours the Toon Ultras's who help get the Atmosphere up another level.

But the Main man Paul "THOMMO" Thompson got a great reception from the great crowd who showed up the their many hundreds!!!

Well done Paul and the Heed Army hopes you enjoyed your night!!!!

Hampton &Richmond 1 Gateshead 0 (friendly)

Gateshead Traveled to London to take on Hampton and Richmond of the Blue Square south league.

Hampton and Richomnd won the encounter 1-0 ona hot summers day.
