Gateshead 1 Vauxhall Motors 3

The Magic of the FA Cup could not have been saved by Harry Potter this afternoon at the International Stadium.

Gateshead had an even share of the play in the first half, the Heed looked as though they were about to step it. Unfortunately Peter Keen came running to the edge of his box to deal with the on coming Vauxhall forward. He stopped the ball, yet had just stepped outside the 18 yard box.
The ref followed the letter of the law and Keen saw red.
No doubt keen would have done the same every time, just unlucky his momentum carried him out the box.(Keen Pictured leaving the field of play).

Richard Flynn was the man to take the goal keepers Jersey and stand between the sticks, as Gateshead did not have another keeper on the substitute bench. A major risk to take in a cup game, after all there was two more substitute spaces with it being a cup game.
Flynn did well but let in 3 goals a normal goal keeper would have saved, was brave of him to take the gloves and give his all.

David Southern riffled in a free kick to make it 2-1 mid way in the second half, but the damage of being a man down always left Gateshead week at the back when moving forward.

The 21 game unbeaten run come to and end in all competitions, but we are still unbeaten in the UniBond since March.

Q:Does this Gateshead Side have what it takes to bounce back?

A:The Heed Army Blog thinks so, hopefully the injured players like Steve Bowey and SteveSalvin will be back to add much needed stability in the Heed midfield and defence.

HEED
ARMY
TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gateshead 1 Guiseley 0

A real test of Gatesheads nerves and determination is what happened at the International Stadium on Wednesday night.

It only took one goal to send the Heed top of the UniBond league, with
Graeme Armstrong (pictured) the man getting the ball in the back of the net.

Guiseley Came with a big forward line and tried to use their height in and around the
Gateshead penalty area. Also the pacey Guiseley right back was more than a hand full giving Richard Flynn a lot to deal with.
Flynn stood tall and tackled like with the grace of a ballet dancer, but used the force of a steam train.

The centre midfield pair of
Jamie McClen and Chris Hughes where a joy to watch with Hughes dashing forward and McClen Running the show passing the ball everywhere.
Steve Salvin had to leave the action at half time being replaced by Paul Thompson who filled in well in defence apart from being wrong footed to leave the Guiseley forward with a clear shot, luckily he had the shooting skill of a drunk.

Davie Southern had the chance to double Gatesheads lead but his penalty was saved by the keeper.

HEED ARMY TV Matlock away

Lost some sound, sorry.

Matlock 1 Gateshead 1

Nobody can complain with a 1-1 draw away to Matlock Town, a well deserved point!!

The Heed fell 1-0 behind in the first minute of the match, Peter Keen (pictured below) was not helped by his defence. he was left to pick the ball out of the net after poor communication for the back four.

Injury's to Steve Bowey and Kris Gate in the first half did not help
Gateshead's cause, Heed legend Paul Thompson had to fill in as a defender after starting up front with Davie Southern.

Super Sub Ian Robson came on and netted the equalizer for the Heed to make it 1-1 at half time.

The second half seen both side have there chances, but finishing was not a strong point for either side.

Paul Thompson was judged to have brought down a Matlock player in the box, and the referee point to the stop. In moments like this experience and a calm composure is vital and Peter Keen was Cooler than the fonze!!
As the penalty was taken the Heed Army held their breath, but come the hour come the man and KEENO saved the penalty to send the 100 strong Heed Army wild as t
hey got behind there team.

A share of the points was a fare result and not a bad for playing a team in a top five on the UniBond league.

Matlock Town Preview

The third trip of the season to Derbyshire for Gateshead See's them take on Matlock Town at their picturesque ground.

Possibly the Heed toughest game of the season so far is what is in prospect, Matlock are currently sitting 5th in the UniBond League.

5Matlock Town7502128+415
6Eastwood Town8413109+113

Matlocks danger man is surely Steve Taylor who has already netted 6 times this season, and is in fine form having scored a hat-trick in last Saturdays FA Cup match against Carlton.

Kris Gates is sure to fill the right back slot with Craig Baxter's suspension starting on Saturday.

The
Heed Army hopes to be there in our numbers, with two full buses making the trip to Matlock on Saturday. Drums, Air Horns and lots singing will accompany the Gateshead lads to hopefully another fine victory!!

Gateshead 6 Selby Town 1

If it was boxing it would have been stopped!!

Gateshead's goals kept coming in this match, all 6 would not have out of place in the Premiership.

In front of a passionate crowd Gateshead never got out of second gear it has to be said. The Northern East Counties League opposition couldn't handle the Heeds passing and speed in midfield, which led to the Selby defence to crumble.

The 6 goals were scored by:

Davie Southern 2x
Graeme Armstong

Craig Baxter
Ian Robson
and Captin Marvel Steve Bowey (pictured)

Its easy to get carried away when the Heed
are playing so well, but you cant help but see there is more to come from this Gateshead side.
Ian Bogie and Jeff Wrightson have worked wonders over the summer crafting a well oiled machine to take the UniBond and Cups by storm.

Now Gateshead await to see who they draw in the next round of the FA Cup Qualifiers.

Selby Town Preview

Gateshead Face Selby Town of the Northern Counties East League in the FA Cup 1st Qualifying round.

Selby Town are currently sitting 7th in the NCEL, they will be no push over.

A new face looks set to be in the starting line up on Saturday, Kris Gate the former Newcastle United reserve team captain.
Kris looks set to go straight in at right back replacing the suspended Craig Baxter (Pictured Below) who has a three game ban.

Also Paul Talbot (pictured) looks set to say with the Heed, after an approach from Northern League Champions Whitley
Bay. Great news if he stays.

Hopefully Saturdays game is the first stop on a long FA CUP run to the first round proper and beyond!!!

The Heed Army will be in fine voice up on the Clothes Line (pictured), why not join us!!!!

HEED ARMY TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

North Ferriby 1 Gateshead 4

Strong resolve was the order of the day as Gateshead overcame being 1-0 down at half time to win 4-1.

The first half was a horrible affair to watch with the referee taking centre stage and shining like a 2 watt bulb.
Late tackles and tackles from behind were missed by the ref and his assistants, which made life difficult for Gatesheads passing game.

The second half seen Gateshaed recompose and take the game to North Ferriby with such vigor even Manchester United would have thrown the towel in.

Goals by Davie Southern, Chris Hughes, Steve Salvin and Substitute Ian Robson (pictured) sore Gateshead
make it 18 games unbeaten, also made it 24 goals in 6 games this season.

Three Stand out players on the night were Graeme Armstrong, Wayne Phillips and Jamie McClen, all three were in fine form and ran the show for the heed.
Armtrong deserved a goal after spinning the Ferriby defence was only denied by the fine save made by the keeper.

Line up and ratings:

HEED ARMY TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gateshead 6 Hednesford 2

Every Gateshead fan will have woke up on Sunday morning with a black and blue arm, from pinching them themselves after Saturday outstanding performance.

The 6-2 defeat of Hednesford was nothing short of outstanding, the passing was fluid and beautiful one touch game at times.
Passion and pride seems to be very much of the
Gateshead team of late, Ian Bogie has installed a fantastic work ethic with his boy's and the Heed Army getting to see it with recent results.

Jamie Harwood (pictured) got his name on the score sheet again with to well placed shots, Harwood is living up to the Heed Army Blogs prediction of the player to watch this season.

David Southern scored a brace, also he was a cut above the Hednesford defence causing them trouble all afternoon.

Phil Cave (pictured) opened his goal account with a great shot from just inside the box, to send the Heed Army wild in the stands.

Substitute
Chris Hughes also Scored a good goal at the back post.

Could it be Heaven 17??????

Temptation to get carried away is rife among Gateshead fans, but every ones keeping their feet firmly planted to the ground.

16 games without defeat and sitting 3rd in the UniBond after just four game of the new campaign is possibly way beyond any Heed fans dreams after a ordinary pre season.

Hednesford Town stand in the way of Gateshead making it 17 game unbeaten and will sure be out to bring the Heed's run to a swift end.
Hednesford are currently sitting 7th in the UniBond Prem, having played two more games than Gateshead.
