Burscough Preview

The Heed Army travel to Burscough on Saturday after getting back to winning ways last weekend at home to Osset Town.

Gateshead's 2-1 win last Saturday was the first win for 3 games with former Blyth Spartan man Mattie Moffat (pictured below) and former Darlington and Hartlepool Utd midfielder Ian Clark getting the goals.













Tony Lee's men will be gunning to keep to winning ways down at Burscough who are currently sitting in the play-off places in 5th in the Unibond Premier league.

Gateshead could climb to 12th in the league with a win at high flying Burscough, if other results go Gateshead's way.

In a game where the was a major lack of communication Gateshead managed to pull off a 2-1 win.

In the first half many senior players seemed to have left there passion, fight and pride in the dressing room, with passes going a stay here there and everywhere.
These bad passes led to Ossett have many chance in front of goal. There goal came from a corner, Peter Keen was unable to get his hands on the ball and it fell to a Ossett player to slot home in the six yard box.

After the break Gateshead started a little better with chances falling to New Striker Mattie Moffat, but his first touch let him down.
On the hour Gateshead started to move through the gears and get a foot hold in the game.

Mattie Moffat levelled the score line with a goal that would have not looked out of place in a world cup final, a swift turn after he flicked the ball over the defender and lobbed the keeper who did get a finger to it. A real touch of class from Moffat.

Although Gateshead leveled the score they still looked shaky at the back, and the next goal was gonna be the winner.

The wining goal came for Gateshead when Ian Clark shot though a crowd and got a deflection to grab the winner in the dieing minutes of the game.

Not the best game to watch, but a win is a win.

Shining Lights

Although this season has not played out as many Gateshead fans predicted, there has been a few shining beacons on the pitch.

Players such as Davie Southern, Chris Hughes, Steve Salvin and Craig Baxter have caught the eye in a mid table team.

Davie Southern a 3 time winner of the northern league title returned to Gateshead to help make and get goals, and that is what he has done. His Likeable personality and ability to make a goal from nothing has made him a firm favourite with the Heed Army Faithful.

Chris Hughes the tireless midfielder arrived at the club from relegated conference North side Scarborough. Chris has had league experience at Darlington before joining Scarborough. His pin point passes from midfield turn defence into attack with one touch.

Steve Salvin the box to box powerhouse, he was not thought to be the strongest signing made in pre season by the Heed Army. But his on pitch displays have shown he was a very important part of the Gateshead midfield/squad this season.

Craig Baxter the shy lad with a gentle personality has the tackle of a demon and the crosses of David Beckham on his day. Craig arrived after being in the Newcastle United youth and reserve teams. A Heed Army favourite.

Ilkeston 4 Gateshead 2

Gateshead Travelled to Ilkeston with leading goal scorer Davie Southern and Team Captain Steve Baker both missing the game through suspension.

Gateshead took the lead with Jamie Harwood getting his 5th of the season in a Heed shirt.

Half time score 1-1

After the break Gateshead took the lead again with Craig Nelthrope (pictured under) getting the ball in the onion sack.
This lead was short lived as Ilkeston leveled the score soon after.











Ilkeston took a 3-2 lead midway through the second half, and took there lead to 4-2 soon after.

Full Time score 4-2

Heed Army Flag!!!!!

The New Heed Army Flag was on Display At the Abandoned game with AFC Telford, the pride and joy of Wing Commander Robinson!!!!!

Gateshead vs AFC Telford

The Match between Gateshead and AFC Telford was called off due to a waterlogged pitch, the ground staff worked tirelessly to get the game on only to have the rain fall none stop.

The referee started the game, but conditions did not get any better so he abandoned the game on 15 minutes.

Double Signing

Gateshead Have resigned Fan favourite Peter "KEENO" Keen, and hope to have him in the Team for the visit of AFC Telford.

Peter Started his Days at Newcastle Utd before moves to Carlisle United and Darlington.


Also Gateshead have completed the Signing of striker Mattie Moffat from Local rivals Blyth Spartans.

This is the Photo's from the night out in Balckpool after the Fleetwood game.

A great time was had everyone down there , with players and fans painting the Town red!!!!

HEED ARMY!!!!!!!!

Fleetwood Town 1 Gateshead 0

In a Hostile setting Gateshead found the game hard going, with plenty of incidents.

Key Moments in the game:
Tony Lee being sent off. Fleetwood goal keeper coming in on Davie Southern with high feet outside the box. Davie Southern having his penalty saved. Ref Leaving his balls in the changing room!!!!! (Spoiled it for both side's)

Gateshead started the game with a new formation 352, With new loan signing Pacey in defence along side Curtis and Baker.

Davie Southern was threw on goal when the Fleetwood keeper came racing out the box and seemed to kung fu tackle Davie in the head. the Ref came racing over going for his cards only to show a yellow (Pure disbelief was the fans). once Davie had the blood wiped from his ear, Gateshead Carried on.
Fleetwood's goal came from a sweeping counter attack down the left hand side of the pitch and was slotted home with power.

Soon After Tony Lee seen red after an altercation with Fleetwoods coaching staff.

After half time Paul Thompson came on to replace a Struggling Ian Clark, Gateshead looked a lot better going forward with a target man nodding ball on for Southern and Nelthorpe.

Marc Bell the Gateshead Goal keeper suffered a knee injury while heading a ball clear and landing badly,
Byrne came off the bench to stand in for the injured ball. Warren Byrne also made a fantastic save that got a round of applause from all the ground.

late on in the game Craig Nelthrope was brought down in the box, Davie Southern Stepped up to take the penalty only to see his effort saved by the keeper.

It ended 1-0 to Fleetwood, not a match anyone would like to see.

Fleetwood Preview

Gateshead travel to Fleetwood Town this weekend, for their fourth game of 2007.

Gateshead hope to include new signing, former Scarborough midfielder Karl Heineger to the team for the trip.

The Heed Army will be wanting to get back to winning ways after their 5 match unbeaten run came to an end last weekend against Prescot Cables.

Paul "Thommo" Thompson is only Two gaols away from becoming the Clubs record Goal scorer, lets see if he can make history down Fleetwood.
